This Sunday, July 2, we will be celebrating our parish’s patron, St. Stephen, the first martyr. (Normally St. Stephen’s Day is December 26, but we observe it on a Sunday near our groundbreaking on our church building.) Join us to celebrate our patron saint, to hear parish alum Sarah Lawton preach, and to welcome a new member (Ginny Deysher, daughter of Nick Deysher and Tracey Freitag) to our parish through the sacrament of Holy Baptism. Special displays about the history of the parish will be out in the parish hall during the brunch.

This Sunday we will welcome Sarah Lawton (as well as other members of the Lawton family) back to St. Stephen’s. Sarah is the eldest daughter of the late Fr. Jack and Nancy Lawton. (Fr. Jack served as our rector from 1979-1991.) Sarah lives in San Francisco, CA, where she is a member of St. John’s      Church. She is actively involved in the national church, as a seasoned lay delegate to General Convention, as secretary of the National and International Concerns legislative committee, and chair of the Standing Commission on Social Justice and Public Policy. In 2013, she was given the House of Deputies Award medal. (Hopefully this marks a new tradition of inviting parish alums to preach or preside at our patronal feast.)

On July 2, we will have a special Pot Luck Brunch following the service. Please bring your favorite breakfast dish to share on that day!
