Pancake supper and bingo: Join us Feb. 25 for a night of Parish fun and festivity before we enter Lent. We’ll have a free pancake supper with Mardi Gras celebration and our monthly BINGO night will follow. Stay for all or part of the event. Invite your friends and neighbors to join us. Better still bring them with you. All ages welcome. Pancakes served from 5:00 pm and the Bingo games start at 6:30pm
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES: This week on Wednesday, we will be offering two services, both with Communion and the imposition of ashes. The 12 Noon service will be quiet without music, while the 7pm evening service will include music with the choir. Please join us in worship as we start this important season of Lent.
LENTEN PROGRAM – CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM: This year we will be learning about the other Abrahamic traditions (Judaism & Islam). Each Wednesday evening of Lent, we will gather for worship at 6pm, a simple vegetarian dinner at 6:30pm, and then at 7pm a guest speaker will be joining us to talk about his/her faith and culture. For questions or to volunteer to bring a soup or salad, please see Meta Mitchell. Meanwhile, please mark your calendars for these group events:
Mar. 4 Judaism (with Rafe Mizrahi)
Mar.11 Judaism(with Rabbi Joe Eiduson)
Mar. 18 Islam (with Safdar Medina)
Mar. 25 Islam (with Safdar Medina)
LENTEN WEEKDAY SERVICE: Throughout Lent, short services of Morning and Evening Prayer will be led by lay volunteers in the Chapel on Fridays at 8:30am and 6:00pm, respectively. All are welcome to join in these short prayer services.
FILL OUR ST. JOSEPH’S TABLE: Our St. Joseph Table is still set up in the parish hall and will continue to receive food donations through the next couple weeks, leading up to Holy Week. Help us meet our goal! (The Food Pantry is specifically asking for canned proteins that can be eaten without a stovetop: canned meat chili, spaghetti with meatballs, hearty beef stew, peanut butter, etc.)
2020 PARISH DIRECTORIES: The latest edition of the parish directory is now available. See one of the wardens (Sharyn Philcox or Peggy Yankee) for your household’s copy.
MARION WILE SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Completed applications are due by March 1. Application forms can be picked up in the parish office, and completed materials should also be returned directly to the parish office. Questions can be addressed to Fr. Jesse.
Phone coverage needed for the parish office: Due to a change with our secretary’s schedule, We are looking for folks who would be willing to help out with phone coverage for the parish office on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-12. The office/phone is usually pretty quiet during the week but having someone at the desk would ensure that visitors met a friendly face and phone calls were answered in a timely manner. Anyone interested in helping out, or for questions, please contact Sharyn Philcox.
A HEARING AID was recently found on church property some time ago and put in a safe place in the office until its owner could be identified. One day, recently, Parishioner A was talking to Parishioner B who said “I can’t hear you because I have lost one of my hearing aids”. “I know where it is” said Parishioner A and the hearing aid was returned to its rightful and grateful owner. A small God Wink that shows that God is always looking out for us even in the smallest details of our lives.
HELP OUR LITTLE RED WAGON: The Westboro Food Pantry thanks all of you who have been supporting them by donating to our “Little Red Wagon”. Their needs continue to grow with new people showing up every week. The needs now are personal care items and toiletries.
