Earlier this year, the Lent group decided they wanted to volunteer at the Community Harvest Project. On July 21, a work party of 11 volunteers from St. Stephen’s went to the farm in Grafton. We worked in the hot summer sun harvesting zucchini and okra, picking 4 lbs. of okra and 100 lbs. of zucchini. We then marched across the farm to the sweet potatoes where we carefully weeded 14 rows of young plants. We then tackled the weeds around pepper plants. Our harvesting efforts will provide over 400 servings of produce to the food insecure in Worcester county. Connecting with the sabbatical experience, we were serving people, serving God.
