Fr Jesse AbellFr. Jesse Abell comes to us from the Diocese of Indianapolis by way of Omaha, Nebraska.

Fr. Jesse is a native of Indiana and grew up in the small town of Greensburg. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Indiana Wesleyan University and his master’s degree in Psychology and Religion at the University of Cambridge in England. He subsequently attended seminary at Sewanee and was ordained in the Diocese of Northern Indiana.

While in the Diocese of Indianapolis, Fr. Jesse served for three years as the Associate Rector of St. Francis In-The-Fields Episcopal Church in Zionsville, Indiana. In addition to his parish duties, he served as the Ecumenical and Interfaith Officer for the Diocese of Indianapolis. He has also been involved with the national church’s Episcopal Network for Animal Welfare and the Episcopal Network for Science, Technology, and Faith.

For the past year, Fr. Jesse and his wife, Allison, have lived in Omaha, where Allison worked as a food scientist at a food company. During that time, Fr. Jesse served as an on-call staff chaplain at a local hospital and assisted as a supply priest throughout the Diocese of Nebraska.

Fr. Jesse and Allison are excited about joining the community at St. Stephen’s. They have two dogs: Bradley and Peanut. In their free time, they like music, movies, games, visiting new places, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
